Editorial standards
The rules every Latino Gazette article follows.
Accountability
Every article carries the name of the person who wrote it and the date it was published. When an article is substantially updated, we show the date of the update.
Sourcing
We verify facts with primary sources whenever possible: official records, government data, court documents, direct interviews and original reporting. Articles link to the sources behind their key facts. When we cannot confirm something, we say so or leave it out.
Elections
Our election coverage points readers to official sources for voting information: vote.gov and each state’s election authority. We do not publish our own vote counts or projections; election-night results link to the official results pages of the states.
News and opinion
Opinion pieces are clearly labeled and published in the Opinion section. They reflect the views of their authors.
Images
Photographs and illustrations are credited. We do not alter news photographs in ways that change their meaning.
Independence
Our ownership is disclosed on our About us page. Our journalists do not accept payment or gifts in exchange for coverage.
Corrections
We correct errors promptly and transparently. See our corrections policy.
